Cornish Tiergarten

Cornish Tiergarten (12 x 330ml bottles)

Brewed by our very own German ‘Bierbrauerin’ Kim Buckenauer after one of her favourite styles from back home in Berlin, Cornish Tiergarten is a classic Berliner Weisse laced with raspberries to create a deliciously sour beer, slightly hopped with a fruity twist.

Traditionally, sour beers are served pure or, for those with a slightly sweeter tooth, with an infusion of syrup, typically raspberry or woodruff. In past times, more hard core imbibers were not averse to adding a splash of kummel or corn schnapps to enliven the ale.

The special sourness of the beer is brought about through the use of lactobacillus bacteria and brettanomyces (brett) yeast is also used alongside our own ale yeast to add a distinctively smoky, spicy ‘Brett’ character.

Fizzy, light and refreshing, Tiergarten (which translates as ‘Zoo’ in German, referencing the famous Berlin animal park, packs in both wheat and barley malt to create a perfect balance on the palate and a fruit finish that’s simply ‘Kapital’!
