Distilled in Devon, Salcombe gin is a smooth elegant spirits with layered complexity of juniper, coriander, cubeb and fresh citrus.
Salcombe ‘fruiters’ were schooner sailing vessels built in Salcombe and neighbouring Kingsbridge in the 1820a-1880s. Small and fast with their copper sheathed hulls and an ability to sail close to the wind, they were designed to carry the highly perishable cargo of fresh fruit and spices from around the world.
Cargo was kept under 150 tonnes to avoid crushing the fruit and they sailed with their hatches open in all bit the worst wether, to keep the fruit in top condition.
Harnessing the essence of these ships’ precious cargo and their trading routes, we use only the finest fresh citrus fruits and spices combined with Macedonian juniper and English coriander, to create a contemporary spirit inspired by history.
